The following has been kept as simple and as free from legalese as possible – but if you have any queries, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
Description of goods - general
Every care has been taken to make sure the sizes, specifications and colours of the products listed on here are accurately represented, but, as with any website, they can be representations only.
Fabrics & wallpaper – how we can help you get exactly what you want
You will get a good idea of what a fabric or a wallpaper will look like from this website. However, different computer monitors show colours & textures in different ways, so here’s how Stanway can help you get round this:
(a) Samples via the website: you have the option beside each fabric & paper to order a sample. They cost 75p each & are a great way to see what a fabric or paper is like ‘in the flesh’
(b) Stock cuttings: there can be very slight variations in a design between manufacturers’ batches. A standard sample (above) may come from any batch. If you want to ensure an exact match with any subsequent order, you need to order what’s called a stock cutting. This will arrive with a batch number on it so that, if you do place an order, you can quote the batch number & be sure that your fabric or paper will be identical to your sample. Stock cuttings need to be ordered by email (firstname.lastname@example.org) & also cost 50p each.
(c) Returnable samples: these are larger samples, great if you’re trying to get a feel for the scale of a larger pattern repeat. Stanway Fabrics take a deposit of £30 for each of these, refunded to you once you have returned the sample to the supplier. Stock cuttings need to be ordered by email (email@example.com). You would still need to order a stock cutting if you want an exact match to any subsequent order.
2. Fabric & wallpaper order checklist
(a) Are you sure that the fabric you’ve selected is suitable for purpose? Do check the details listed beside your fabric as to its suitability for upholstery or curtains.
(b) Are you sure that the fabric will ‘behave’ as you believe it will? Please be aware that:
- All fabrics: fade in sunlight (more noticeable on fabrics with a dark ground)
- All fabrics: can react to changing atmospheric conditions by either shrinking or expanding. Similarly, some fabrics will 'drop' or 'lift' when they are hung (though this may take some time).
- Handwoven or hand embroidered fabrics: can have pattern repeats that vary, even within a single length of fabric. Other embroidered fabrics can be subject to similar features.
- Linens: are susceptible to creasing.
- Lampasas (fabrics comprised of two layers): may appear wrinkled. Without blackout lining, a striped effect may also be visible when curtains are drawn in daylight.
- Silks: are particularly susceptible to fading and rotting in sunlight. Slubs are common and are a characteristic of the fabric.
(c) Do you need to see an exact match of your fabric or wallpaper before you order it? If so, make sure to order a stock cutting first! And then make sure to let Stanway know the batch number (you will need to do this by email) when you order.
(d) Are you sure you’re ordering enough for your project? Because manufacturers may hold several batches of their designs at any one time, we do recommend that you place a single order for any one fabric or wallpaper that you require. If you order more of the same later, it is unlikely that it will come from the same batch. There is a fabric calculator on the website but this is for guidance only and is based on the standard calculations Stanway use for quantifying fabric, which may or may not be the same as you require. In addition, pattern repeats can vary between different production batches which can affect the quantity required. If you are in any doubt, please get in touch via phone or email for advice.
All prices include VAT and delivery.
We accept payment by card (see below), cheque and – if you’re in the area – good old fashioned cash.
Delivery & returns
• All standard deliveries are free.
• Different couriers are used for deliveries, but all parcels will need to be signed for.
• Standard delivery* is two to three days. If you need your delivery sooner than that, just give us a call & we will arrange this for you (there may be a charge for this).
• *Standard delivery for anything that is made for you (curtains, roman blinds, cushions etc.) is six weeks to eight weeks.
• Delivery can be made to any postcode in mainland UK (excluding Northern Ireland). It may be possible to deliver to other areas, including overseas, but please contact Stanway before placing your order to check this. There will be a charge for delivery beyond our standard area.
• Deliveries of small amounts of fabrics (5m or less) may be sent folded. Otherwise, they will be sent on a roll.
• It is very important that you check your goods very carefully for damage or flaws when you receive them. If they are indeed unsatisfactory, please read the returns information below before you do anything else!
Returns of made to order goods
By ‘made to order’ goods we mean anything that we have made, cut, ordered in specifically for you or in any other way tailored to you – fabric, wallpaper, curtains, roman blinds etc.
If your goods are faulty...
Stanway does apologise! Please contact us within 7 days by email at firstname.lastname@example.org & let us know in what way the goods are faulty – there may be a simple way to resolve the problem without you needing to return the goods. Otherwise, we will ask you to please package them up, post them back to us (making sure to get a proof of posting) & we will send you a replacement.
NB For fabric & wallpaper returns, please note it’s very important that you do not cut or mark the goods, even if faulty. Fabric & wallpaper suppliers will not accept back goods that have altered in any way by the customer, so we regret that means we can’t accept back such goods either.
If you simply don’t want the goods anymore...
Stanway Fabrics regrets that returns cannot be accepted for made to order items that you no longer want – this is because they have been made, cut, or ordered in specifically for you & it is very unlikely that they will be able to be re-sold. Stanway does not want you to order something you’re not happy with, which is why there's lots of advice provided on the website to help you get exactly what you want. For fabrics & wallpapers in particular, see above.
The legal bits ...
Any orders you place with Stanway will only be accepted and a contract formed once we have received payment in cleared funds. If you do not receive a confirmation email, please contact us. Stanway Fabrics reserves the right at all times and at our sole discretion to refuse to accept any orders.
Orders are accepted and deliveries promised on condition that we are able to provide the goods requested. Stanway can accept no responsibility for order delays or cancellations arising through issues of manufacture or other causes beyond our control. If we are made aware of any complications with the supply of your order you will be advised at the earliest opportunity.
You acknowledge and agree that all copyright, trademarks and all other intellectual property rights in all material on the web site, the web site design, structure and graphics and all software and source codes connected with the web site shall remain at all times vested in us or our licensors. You may only access, view, copy and/or print pages from the web site for the sole purpose of evaluating whether to and/or placing an order with Stanway Fabrics and Interiors. Any other use of the material within the web site is strictly prohibited.
All content included on this web site (including, without limitation, our trademarks, logos, graphics, text, photos, designs, logos, icons, images, data and software) is our property, or belongs to our affiliates and/or licensors, and as such is protected by international and UK copyright and other intellectual property laws.
Limitation of liability
Stanway Fabrics and Interiors will not be liable in contract, tort, negligence, for pre-contract or other representations (other than fraudulent or negligent representations) or otherwise out of or in connection with these Terms & Conditions for: any economic loss (including without limitation loss of revenues, profits, contracts, business, anticipated savings, goodwill or reputation); or any special, consequential or indirect losses (however arising, including negligence) arising out of or in connection with your use of this web site.
Nothing in these Terms & Conditions of Use shall exclude or limit our liability for death or personal injury resulting from our negligence or that of our servants, agents or employees.
You agree to fully indemnify, defend and hold us, and our officers, directors, employees, agents and suppliers, harmless immediately on demand, from and against all claims, liability, damages, losses, costs and expenses, including legal fees, arising out of any breach of these Terms & Conditions of Use by you or other liabilities arising out of your use of the Web site including your violation of any law or rights of a third party.
These Terms & Conditions of Use shall be governed by the laws of England and you agree to submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English court.
